Santa
Cruz, Bolivia
Jose Zurita
Santa Cruz de la sierra is the biggest state of Bolivia.
It was called "the green state". We have varied folk food,
dishes and drinks. We have many traditional. It is good to live in Santa
Cruz because of the healthy environment and the beautiful view.
Santa Cruz was
founded by Nuflo de Chavez in September 24th, 1561, next to the Pirair
River. It is 370.671 km2 big. Santa Cruz is located in the east of
Bolivia. It is a tropical zone, with mountains, vegetation, trees and palm
trees in every corner. Santa Cruz is also called, "The Green
State". It has boundaries to the north with Beni and Bolivian City,
to the south with Paraguay, to the east with Brazil and to the west with
Cochabamba and Chuquisaca, two other Bolivian provinces.
The colors of our state flag are green and white.
- Green: because we have a lot vegetation.
- White: means purity.
Santa Cruz is the most populated state in Bolivia, the capital city is
Santa Cruz de la sierra. The weather is hot in the whole year. We have
lots of rivers, like the Mamole, Ichilo, Pirai, Yapacani, Parapeti and San
Miguel rivers. There are lakes: Concepcion, Caceres, Mendiore, Uberaba,
Jon Hacker, Palmira, Lomas of Arena. And thermal fountains: Salpura,
Poster Valle, Opaburi, Florida. The folk food has many dishes, like the
majao, locros, charque, pacumuto, rice whit cheese, spice tongue, patasca,
chicken pie. We also bake the masaca de yuca, zonzo cunape, empanadas de
cheese, empanadas de jigote, tamal. Our favorite drinks are somo,
tamarindo chicha.
In my state we have many holydays like Carnival, Crucena Tradicion, Fexpo
and Oktoberfest. For carnival we don't work, we just party for three days.
This is a big celebration in my city. Nobody cares about the appearance.
For the Crucena Tradicion every body wears green and white. That day is a
holiday in my state and everybody prepares traditional food.
